Engaged in Mission

We are people with a mission!

We support Hope and Steve Shearouse, who are building group homes for boys and girls in Tapachula, Chiapas Mexico. Hope and Steve are affiliated with Mission on the Move.

We also have a close relationship with Roger and Katrina Engle, missionaries who likewise have opened a home for children (the House of Hope) in Puerto Limpera, Honduras.

We also support the Treutlen House (a foster care home for boys in Effingham County), Habitat for Humanity, the United Way's Brown Bag program, and the Disciples Basic Mission Fund.

Our church also operates a Samaritan Fund, which provides help to families when they need it.

We reached out to Hurricane Katrina victims financially and in prayer. We care for each other and those in our community and our world.

Also, some of our members have made short-term mission trips to Honduras, Nicaragua and Cuba.

Visit us. We'd love to see you!

Our facilities:

Our beautiful sanctuary, renovated in 2003, was constructed in 1902. The Christian Center, located next-door to the sanctuary, is our place for church dinners, meetings, Sunday School and other special events. The Rotary Club of Effingham Sunrise meets here every Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.

We are in an expansion mode. In 2004, we purchased property on our block with an eye toward the future. Our parsonage is next-door to the church on Pine Street.

We are excited about our new outdoor fellowship area, which includes a playground, a covered picnic area and a prayer garden. It's the perfect place for food, fun, and fellowship. We've already enjoyed breaking in our outdoor brick oven!
